With cricket there are only happy memories of past glories on the field; and there is only optimism about the glory that awaits next weekend. Cricket is marvellous, and it's even better if you know the score.

If you have two kids playing at the same time on different sides of town, you want live scoring. If your friends or grandkids live across the country, you want live scoring.

So we’ve made a marvellous live scoring app for cricket — a website that works on any phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. And if you dare, you can run it on your TV! Hook it up to a battery and run the 96* dashboard mode. (If you do, send me photos and I'll post them on the site.)

We have QR codes for you to print and hand out to friends and family at the ground. With the QR code they instantly watch the live scoring on their phone without installing any Apple or Android software.

And life has been made delightful for scorers. It’s the same website. Inside your match, under the "Roles" tab, click the blue button and you’re the scorer.

As the weeks go by, you will be able to score your own matches without needing to email me. Eventually we won't have to be friends to score a match, but for now we do.
